A loose lay Karndean flooring was fitted.

What is loose lay and why was this fitted?

A loose lay is designed to ‘float’ on an existing flooring with minimal / no preparation required.

This method was used to lay the new floor on top of Terrazo tiles.  The reason for this was so the client would be able to have the floor taken up in the future if they wanted to do. Therefore if the cafe was ever to be moved or the area repurposed they could go back to the original surface easily without the cost of recovering.  Therefore the original sub-floor remains intact and unaffected.
This helps the client to have commercial flexibility for the future and controls any future costs.
